A human rights group, Save The Poor and Needy Charity Initiative (SPANCI) has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over the alleged burning of the burial site of Prophet Joseph Odeyemi Eyinafe Bojesomo by some individuals.

The group advised the IGP to investigate the burning of the site and the disruption of the burial of the cleric.

DAILY POST gathered that Bojesomo who died in June this year was until his death the spiritual head of Orioke Agbara Emimimo located at Efon Alaaye in Ekiti State.

The family of the deceased had concluded plans to bury the cleric within the premises of the mountain (Church) between the 13th and 14th of December 2023.

SPANCI President, Dr. Yemi Ezekiel Bello in the petition addressed to the IGP and made available to DAILY POST on Monday, alleged that some individuals who opposed the burial of the cleric within the premises of the church went ahead to burn the burial site and disrupted the burial.

Bello in the petition said some buildings within the premises and other materials worth millions of naira were destroyed

He then appealed to the IGP to investigate the matter and arrest the perpetrators.

Bello in the statement said that the group was not happy with the way the Osun State Police Command handled the matter.

He alleged that the police conspired with Elerinmo of Erinmo and Oba Micheal Odunayo Ajayi Arowotawaya, Saba of Erinmo, and Chief Taiwo Agbonmagbe to perpetuate the crime.

“We in Save the Poor and Needy Charity Initiative are not happy with the Osun State police command’s negligence and conspiracy with Elerinmo of Erinmo land Oba Micheal Odunayo Ajayi Arowotawaya, Chief Taiwo Agbonmagbe the Saba of Erinmo land, and their thugs which we have alleged in many past press releases and petitions.

“We had earlier in our petitions pleaded to Mr President, IGP and others to provide maximum security around Orioke Agbara Emimimo Efon Alaaye popularly called Orioke Erinmo for the safety of the Bojesomos, those on the mountain and those coming for the burial of late prophet Joseph Odeyemi Eyinafe Bojesomo which we have alleged Elerinmo.

“What later happened between 13th and 14th December 2023 the day the late prophet Bojesomo was to be buried was that thugs started shooting guns, invaded the prayer mountain burned the building built to bury the late prophet and other buildings, stole and destroyed valuable equipment and commodities which includes fridge, generators and others worth millions of naira.

“Please note that the said mountain is not in Osun State, we only directed the petition to the AIG because the perpetrators are living in Erinmo hence the police from Ijebujesha and Osun State command and at large lacked jurisdiction to arrest anybody from Efon Alaaye. Also, Elerinmo and his thugs did not allow the burial of the late Bojesomo on the said mountain hence our client for the safety of their lives buried their father somewhere in Efon.
