Gov Otu asks Olumba Olumba to liberate Cross River from occultic powers

Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has appealed to Olumba Olumba Obu, spiritual leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, to pray for the liberation of the state from ‘occultic and satanic’ forces that may have held it down from progress.

Otu spoke in a goodwill message on Sunday at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, where the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star marked the Easter celebration with a programme called ‘Divine Assurance of Christhood’.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Chief Victor Felix Idem, Otu said, “We are particularly gladdened that His Holiness Olumba Olumba is a revered and respected spiritual leader that has drawn global traffic of worshippers to the state.

“The state government is very happy with your contributions and the religious tourism.

“We appeal to you to pray for the liberation of the state from any forces, occultic or satanic, that may be impacting the state.”

Other dignitaries who spoke at the event also urged the spiritual leader to pray for the country and state.

They commended Olumba Obu for being the highest private employer of labour in the state.

Also speaking at the event, Senator B.W. Deg, a former deputy governor-elect in Bayelsa State, said the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has used its unique teachings to impact thousands of Nigerians and people from other countries.

Degi, who is Secretary General of the religious organisation, said the celebration of the Divine Assurance will bring about positive developments in the country.

Address the teeming faithful and guests at the event, Olumba Obu noted that God has intervened in the course of human history.

He charged all nations to abide with the precepts of peace and forgiveness, saying the aim of the celebration was to elevate all that practise the ideals of the Christ into Christhood.
