Gov Buni tasks traditional rulers, religious leaders on youth morality

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has tasked traditional, religious leaders and parents on youth upbringing with decent morality.

Buni gave the charge today when he received the new Emir of Tikau, Alh. Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema, on a thank-you visit to the governor.

In a statement via his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, the governor reiterated the collective responsibility to rebuild the eroding culture of discipline, decency, and righteousness in the youth for a better future.

“The government, traditional authorities, and parents all have the responsibility to arrest the growing decay in morality, discipline, and drug abuse.

“The state government would support 20 young farmers from each of the 178 political wards with farm inputs this cropping season. This is to provide employment to our youth and to boost food sufficiency and food security in the state,” he said.

Buni advised the new emir to emulate the virtues of his late father who was an advocate of peace and unity.

“You should strive to surpass his achievements to justify your selection as the emir,” he admonished.

The new Emir of Tikau emirate council, Alh. Abubakar Muhammad Ibn Grema appreciated the governor and government of Yobe state for standing with the family and the emirate during the trying moment of the passing of the late emir.

“We are grateful for the show of love and for your gracious approval of me as the new emir,” Abubakar said.

The monarch assured he would continue with the tradition of peace building, Zakat and tree planting left by his father for the benefit of the community and the people.

He also assured the support, cooperation, and loyalty of the emirate to Governor Buni and his government and pleaded for the rehabilitation of the Sabon Garin Nangere hospital.
