German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has called on the European Union, EU, to impose a new round of sanctions on drone technology from Iran.
She is pushing for the extension of last year’s campaign, which was initiated by France and other EU countries, to curb the import and export of drones.
Baerbock is due to hold talks in Israel today (Tuesday) to explore ways to ease tensions in the Middle East.
In light of Iran’s recent attack, she condemned the nation’s “aggressive behaviour” and stated that “Israel can protect itself”.
Baerbock emphasized that in these “fragile times,” it is essential that everyone works together to promote regional de-escalation.
“It is incredibly important for us as the German federal government in these fragile times that we all work together to contribute to de-escalation for the entire region,” Baerbock said at a news conference with her Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi.
