Gas explosion rocks Nigerian journalist’s home, injures 2, leaves newborn in coma

A suspected gas explosion has occurred at the residence of a Nigerian journalist, Abdulkareem Haruna, sending shockwaves through the neighborhood.

This was made known on Monday by Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, in a post on his X handle.

Makama said that the explosion, believed to have been caused by a faulty gas cylinder, tore through the kitchen as family members were preparing for the naming ceremony of a new born child.

According to the report, two individuals present at the scene sustained serious injuries, while a newborn baby was caught in the blast and slipped into a coma due to the trauma.
