Ganye Traditional Council disowns group seeking help purportedly to rehabilitate palace

The Ganye Traditional Council of Adamawa State has disowned a group that claimed to be seeking assistance from groups and individuals purportedly to give the Gangwari Ganye palace a facelift.

The Ganye Kingdom, located in the Southern part of Adamawa State, covers the three local government areas of Ganye, Toungo and Jada (the local government area of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar).

DAILY POST reports that the said facelift mission immediately struck many who know the palace in Ganye town as strange, being one of the best palaces in the state.

A statement from the Ganye paramount ruler, the Gangwari Ganye, Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda, expressed shock over the issue, saying some individuals had chosen to drag the image of the chiefdom into disrepute.

“The Palace was not aware of the arrangement and has not been briefed by the group,” the statement said, appealing to Ganye sons and daughters and the general public to disregard any such group.

“For the records, it should be noted that the establishment of the Committee on the Facelift of HRH Gangwari Ganye’s Palace was without consultation with and approval of HRH Gangwari Ganye or the Ganye Traditional Council. It is an illegal act capable of causing distress and embarrassment to the Traditional Council in the eyes of the general public,” the statement added.

It reiterated its call on people of the Ganye kingdom and well-wishers to disregard the content of the appeal for assistance as it does not enjoy the recognition of the 1st class monarchy.
