Fresh test on Dangote Refinery out Monday – Nigerian govt

The Nigerian Government says a fresh report on Dangote Refinery’s diesel sulfur content will be out on Monday.

The Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Spokesman, George Ene-Ita of NMDPRA disclosed this in a statement on Sunday while reacting to the owner of Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote’s rejection of the claim by its Chief Executive Officer, Farouk Ahmed that its petroleum products were inferior compared to imported ones.

Ene-Ita said that the authority has about 15 engineers and scientists embedded in the Dangote refinery and its fresh report on the Dangote refinery’s diesel content will be released.

According to him, NMDPRA has done its job and will not engage in a media fight with Dangote Refinery.

Recall that last week, Ahmed revealed that the Dangote Refinery is not yet licensed to operate, stressing that its petroleum products were inferior.

“Dangote Refinery, as well as some modular refineries like Watersmith Refinery and Aradel Refinery, are producing between 650 and 1,200 PPM. Therefore, in terms of quality, their products are inferior to imported ones,” he stated.

However, Dangote dismissed the statement by Ahmed that its petroleum products were inferior.

He called for an independent test on its refinery’s products.

“The imported one they are encouraging is the spec in test, but in certain cases, when you check (independently), different results will show. Because those people who have the lab have been told what to write”, Dangote said while taking Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbass and other ranking lawmakers around Dangote Refinery at the weekend.
