Four arraigned for stealing tiles worth N200,000

The Police on Friday arraigned four persons before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing tiles worth N200,000.

The defendants; Olalekan Hamzat, 42, Olawale Oluwole, 44, Raman Olagbenjo, 44, and Kunmi Akinlolu, 40 were charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which they all pleaded not guilty.

The addresses of the defendants were, however, not provided.

The prosecutor, Insp. Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Tuesday at about 3.45 p.m at Liberty Garden, Apata in Ibadan.

Ibrahim said the defendants stole 16 cartons of 60×60 tiles, property of one Mayor Block industry.

He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two reliable sureties each in like sum.

She thereafter adjourned the case until December 16 for hearing.
