Alhaji Shehu Othman, a former commissioner in the old Benue State is dead.
Othman, who hailed from Keana in Nasarawa State, passed away at the age of 91, on Wednesday, at the Trust Charitos Hospital in Jabi, Abuja.
The family conveyed the news of his death and disclosed that the late statesman would be laid to rest on the same day after the Zuhur prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The family’s official statement reads, “Inna lillahi wa ina ilaihir taki in. With a heavy heart, but in total submission to the will of Allah, the family of Alhaji Shehu Othman wishes to announce his demise today, 29th November 2023, aged 91, at the Trust Charitos Hospital in Jabi, Abuja, after a brief illness.
“May Allah rest and forgive the soul of the departed, and grant him Aljannah Firdaus, amen.”
The Janaza prayer, a funeral prayer in Islam, was scheduled to take place after the Zuhur prayer at 1:30 pm at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The burial ceremony followed at the Gudu Cemetery.
Alhaji Shehu Othman was born on June 26, 1932. He held the prestigious title of Magajin Garin Keana until his passing.
Throughout his career, the late nonagenarian served in various cabinet portfolios. He also held several Federal board appointments.
