Flooding has cut off the highway connecting Jigawa State to Kano, Gombe and Bauchi states.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, confirmed this in a statement issued to newsmen.
“The major highway connecting Birninkudu to Malawa, Babaldu, and neighboring states Gombe and Bauchi has been completely submerged by flooded making it difficult for motorists,” he said.
The Jigawa NSCDC spokesman advised motorists to take alternative routes to avoid the affected area.
“The situation is critical. We urge all motorists to exercise caution and take alternative routes to ensure their safety.”
Badruddeen added that NSCDC personnel have been deployed to the area to redirect motorists and maintain order.
He said the flood also affected nearby communities, with residents reporting damage to homes and farmlands.
