Following the heavy downpour which started on Friday till the early hours of Sunday, over 80 households have been displaced by flood in some communities of Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Sources from the community told DAILY POST on Sunday that the incident had thrown the residents into confusion and panic as most of the affected persons are now stranded and in search of places of refuge.
According to Nandul Solomon, a resident of Angwan Bwarat in Sabon Gida community of Langtang South, “The flood didn’t claim lives but because it was huge, it displaced over 80 households.
“Some of the displaced persons are currently staying with neighbours or friends and relatives, while others are still stranded.”
Also, Yintim Nimilam, the Community Development Secretary of Sabon Gida, who spoke to DAILY POST, lamented the unfortunate incident.
He said several persons are currently displaced and staying with relatives.
“We appeal to government and relevant authorities (SEMA and NEMA) to come to our aid,” he added.
