Five vigilantes missing after clash with bandits in Katsina

Five vigilante members have gone missing after battling bandits at Dogon Marke village in Safana LGA, Katsina State.

The vigilantes disappeared while trying to prevent the hoodlums from escaping a military airstrike that reportedly took place at about 7:30 pm yesterday around the Zakka, Yauni vicinity in Safana LGA.

The source revealed that the military successfully targeted the bandits’ camp, eliminating some, burning possessions, and causing chaos. Unfortunately, the five vigilante members vanished while attempting to thwart the terrorists’ escape routes.

He said, “Our forces from the villages of Kantamawa, Yabbudu, Wurma, Kudewa and Danzangi have intercepted the escape routes of the terrorists and chased them back and wounded others.

“Unfortunately, Since then, we have not seen five members of our forces.”

He gave their names as follows: Rabe Yabbudu, Bala Mai Saida Lohe, Muhammadu Yabbudu, Musa Chogal and Bala Na Rimi.

Both the military and the police have yet to confirm the report as at the time of filing this report. The spokesperson of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Oiza Ehinlaiye, said she was on transit and promised to get back in the evening but her phones were later switched off.

Similarly, the police spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, promised to call back but was yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
