Finidi backs Enyimba forward Mbaoma to end goal drought

Enyimba head coach Finidi George has backed the club’s top scorer Chijioke Mbaoma to come good after his poor run of form in front of goal.

Mbaoma missed a number of scoring chances in the People’s Elephant’s 1-0 win over Heartland in midweek.

He has scored only once in Enyimba’s last six games in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Mbaoma has scored 13 goals for the NPFL champions this season.

Finidi said he will continue to support and encourage the striker.

“We will continue to encourage him (Mbaoma) he is the league joint-top scorer with 13 goals,” he told the club’s media.

“We will see how far he can go in the remaining matches in the league.

“This is not the time to put down any player, we will support him so that he continue to finish well.

“I don’t like to talk about players missing goals but the player already knows but I have to psyche him up and get him ready for the next match.”

Enyimba will be in action against Sunshine Stars this weekend in Akure.
