The Federal Government has called for collaboration with the Oyo State Government on how to improve electricity supply in the state.
Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu made this call when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.
Adelabu, who was accompanied by top management of the ministry, told newsmen that he was on a working visit to Oyo State to see the governor and discuss areas of partnership.
He added that the responsibility of providing a stable, reliable and functional power supply remains the prerogative of the government and operators are just drivers of the process on behalf of the government.
According to the minister, his ministry believes that governments at all levels must cooperate to see how they can improve the electricity supply to the people.
“The state governments have a major role to play when it comes to distribution, rural electrification, improving metering, and other distribution infrastructure against looting and vandalism.
“We are here to see how we can partner, collaborate and cooperate with the state government, especially the state Ministry of Energy, Electricity Board and Rural Electrification Board,” he said.
