Fake monarchs planning to attack Arochukwu with thugs, drug addicts – Abia govt

The Abia State government has alleged that some individuals masquerading as traditional rulers in Arochukwu, Arochukwu local government were planning to disrupt the peace and tranquillity in the town.

A press statement by Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information in the state on Sunday, claimed that the Abia State government has it on good authority that the alleged impostors were planning to use thugs and drug addicts to intimidate and harass innocent citizens of the community under the guise of a non-existent chieftaincy tussle.

The state government warned those involved in the planned attack and their alleged sponsors to desist from their despicable act in their own best interest

The statement read in part, “The security agencies are hereby directed to enforce law and order in the community and to ensure that those who disrupt the peace are brought to book accordingly.

“The Abia State government hereby reiterates its commitment to protect the lives and property of all Abia citizens and residents at all times”.

However, the names of the fake traditional rulers and their alleged sponsors were not disclosed by the state government.
