Extend pension benefits to primary school teachers, LG workers – Gov Agbu told

The former Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the Nigerian Union Congress, NLC, Jonah Kataps, has called on the state governor, Agbu Kefas to address the plight of retired primary school teachers in the state.

Kataps, who was also the former state chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, also urged him to carry retired local government workers along in his drive to settle the backlog of pensioners in the state.

Kataps made the appeal on Friday in a statement while commending the governor for allocating an additional one billion Naira to state pensioners.

Acknowledging the governor’s efforts towards alleviating the sufferings of retirees across the state, he highlighted the pressing issues of pension arrears for local and primary school teachers.

He expressed concern for those who have not yet received their pension benefits, despite retiring after decades of service.

Kataps emphasized the need for these pensioners to be included in the government’s pension and gratuity scheme, pointing out that they are also deserving of support.

He urged the governor to extend his empathy to them by addressing the needs of all pensioners, including those from primary schools and local government institutions.
