Europa League: Why Man Utd drew 1-1 with Twente – Ten Hag

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has said his players failed to kill off the game against Twente in their first Europa League tie.

The Red Devils took the lead in the first half through Christian Eriksen’s fierce effort.

However, Ten Hag’s men failed to extend the lead and allowed the Dutch side back into the game.

Eriksen was dispossessed, before Sam Lammers hammered past Andre Onana at his near post.

Ten Hag, speaking to TNT Sports after the game, said: “We kept them alive, 1-0 up, controlling the game you have to be consistent and keep going.

“In the second half we dropped the level, gave the goal away.

“We didn’t finish it off, we had to go for the second goal and so they stayed alive and we got punished with a mistake from ourselves.”
