Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has told the club to forget about the Europa League and channel their energy towards winning the Premier League this season.
Gallagher urged his former club to set aside their Europa League expectations after the Premier League giants were beaten 3-0 at Anfield by Atalanta in the quarter-final on Thursday.
Liverpool put in an abysmal performance against the Italian outfit.
Carragher took to social media after the game ended to share his thoughts and wrote on X:
“Awful result & performance from Liverpool, the only consolation about getting beat so heavily is Jurgen should play a full second string in the second leg & go all in for the league!”
The Reds are level on points with league leaders Arsenal with seven games remaining in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, succeeding in the Europa League now seems difficult as they would need to overturn a three-goal deficit in Italy.
