Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has revealed two big problems with the France team after their UEFA Euro 2024 victory against Austria on Monday.
According to Leboeuf, the lack of familiarity in defense and selfishness in attack are the two major problems with Didier Deschamps’ side.
France currently sits in second position in Group D after beating Austria.
They will face the Netherlands on Friday in their next game.
“[I’m worried] about two areas. First one would be the centre-backs because Upamecano and Saliba don’t know each other very well,” Leboeuf told ESPN FC.
“Saliba had a good game, but the first chance of the game came for Austria after he and Upamecano knocked into each other. It was a big chance for Austria, before Maignan saved it. That is something, at that level, you cannot afford.”
“The other one is upfront. The talent is so much there that sometimes every one of them wants to be the saviour and they don’t see the best option next to them. I saw Griezman not passing to Dembele in the first half, of course Mbappe [also] does that a lot and forgets his teammates.”
