The Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar has described the death of Jones Ajayi, a reporter with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Bida station, as very devastating.
Ajayi died in the early hours of Thursday after a brief illness in Minna
The royal father in a statement said the death of the veteran journalist was a great loss not only to his family or the NTA but also to the entire Nupe Kingdom and Niger State.
He described the deceased as very humble, dedicated, diligent and committed to his duty.
He said words cannot express the rude shock and pain of losing such a compatriot in the struggle to make society a better place.
The Etsu Nupe noted that ” his death is a great loss that has robbed us of a consummate newsman whose patriotism and love for a better Nigeria was not in doubt”
“His incisive and poignant contributions in disseminating news around the Nupe kingdom to the public and national discourse will be greatly missed”.
“He left behind an indelible mark not only on the journalism profession but also on moving the country to greater heights”
“I was deeply touched when I received the news that Jones Ajayi had passed on.”
Abubakar then commiserated with the NTA, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger chapter and prayed to God to grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss as it is only Allah that has the power to give and take life.
