EPL: You’re making Maresca’s job impossible – Redknapp hits Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly

Former Liverpool midfielder, Jamie Redknapp, has hit out at the transfer strategy implemented by Chelsea owner and chairman Todd Boehly.

Redknapp believes Boehly is making Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s job impossible at Stamford Bridge with the group of players that they have at the moment.

This is coming after Boehly was embarrassingly caught walking out of Chelsea’s huge game against Manchester City before the final whistle on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

The match ended 2-0 in favour of Man City, thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.

“He [Maresca] has got to go back into training tomorrow and he’s going to see so many unhappy faces,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports.

“Normally we have 11 v 11 on a Thursday, trying to get the squad playing together. You’ve got 20 players that can’t even get in the 11 v 11. How can that be right?

“The best teams in the Premier League over the last five years work on the basis of 24 or 25 players in their squad. How and why do they [Chelsea owners] think that they are going to reinvent football and try to do this.

“You are making the manager’s job virtually impossible with the group of players that they have got.”
