EPL: You’re judged for what you’ve done – Keane slams Fernandes over Ten Hag comments

Manchester United legend, Roy Keane, has countered the club captain, Bruno Fernandes’ claim that he (Fernandes) tried to help recently sacked manager, Erik ten Hag.

This was after Fernandes told the press at the weekend that he apologized to Erik ten Hag after his sacking.

DAILY POST reported last week that Ten Hag was shown the exit door at Old Trafford on October 28, following a 2-1 defeat to West Ham in the Premier League a day earlier.

Manchester United, now under the temporary care of former player, Ruud van Nistelrooy, played out a 1-1 draw in the Premier League against Chelsea on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Fernandes revealed he had apologised to the Dutchman, taking responsibility for not scoring goals to save the manager’s job.

In reaction, Keane slammed Fernandes.

He said the Portuguese lacked leadership.

“Too little, too late. You are judged for what you have done on a football pitch. Bruno didn’t show that leadership, but you also have to move on. A lot of players don’t care that much, they just focus on the next manager,” Keane said on Sky Sports.

“I don’t think Bruno has done enough as captain over the last year or so to help the manager out. He has not shown enough leadership skills when the going has got tough.”
