Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has revealed he made Harry Maguire captain as he felt Bruno Fernandes was “too passionate” to wear the armband.
Fernandes was appointed skipper by current manager Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2023 after the Dutchman took it off Maguire.
But the 29-year-old has faced criticism over his animated behaviour from several fans and pundits.
“I knew Bruno Fernandes had captain qualities when I was manager at Manchester United. He’s got the personality and quality, but he knows and I’ve told him that he’s too passionate at times and he loses a bit of control.
“I loved Harry Maguire as a captain, he was the leader in that group for me when I was at the club,” Solskjaer said on the Stick To Football podcast.
