Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged as a top contender for the Leicester City job.
The Dutchman is set to replace Steve Cooper, who was sacked by the Premier League club on Sunday.
Cooper was dismissed following a 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea.
He leaves the Leicester City team in 16th place after 12 fixtures.
During his short stint as United’s interim manager, Van Nistelrooy enjoyed two wins over the Foxes.
Now, he is the favourite to succeed Cooper who he lined up on the touch-line against.
Van Nistelrooy, who has previous managerial experience with PSV Eindhoven – where he won the domestic cup in 2023 – has previously confirmed his desire to eventually manage the Red Devils, who are now under the management of Ruben Amorim.
In the meantime he has reportedly put himself out there and made his interest known in a range of jobs.
