Arsenal legend Paul Merson has suggested that Oleksandr Zinchenko could cost the Gunners in the Premier League title race this season.
Arsenal will overtake Liverpool and return to the top of the Premier League table if they win their game in hand against West Ham United on Thursday at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side secured a point against Liverpool at Anfield in their last match.
But were it not for Zinchenko’s poor defending against Mohamed Salah, they could have won the game against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
“Arsenal are a different team now,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“They have learned a lot from last season and Declan Rice has taken them to another level. I think they will go on and win it [Premier League to title] now.
“This could be their problem: The left-back. That is poor defending [against Liverpool].
“That is my worry. I think they need Zinchenko for games against bottom-half teams, where they can go and play and dominate the game, but when they play the big boys [they don’t].”
