EPL: Scholes picks one match that stopped Arsenal from winning title last season

Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, has said Arsenal should have played for a win at Manchester City last season.

The Gunners left the Etihad with a 0-0 draw in the heat of the title race.

Scholes, speaking on The Overlap, claimed Mikel Arteta’s men would have “killed” City if they took all three points.

According to him, Arsenal still don’t have the mentality to win the Premier League.

He said: “I think the thing they’re missing is that little bit of mentality.

“Sometimes you have to go to your title rivals and win. I remember watching the game when Arsenal went to Man City and City were struggling a bit.

“Arsenal went there and played for a draw and they were delighted with the draw. If they won there they would have won the league. That would have killed Man City, destroyed them.”

City ended up winning the title for the fourth straight year, finishing only two points above Arsenal.
