EPL: Results have been good – Van Dijk speaks on Liverpool winning title this season

Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk, has opened up on the Reds’ race to win the Premier League title this season.

He said while it might be too early to say that the Reds are in the Premier League title race, they want to remain top of the table.

Van Dijk said this after helping his side come from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday.

Ferdi Kadioglu had given the Seagulls the lead in the 14th minute.

Liverpool equalised in the 69th minute through Cody Gakpo while Mohammed Salah scored the winner three minutes later.

The win saw Liverpool return to the table’s summit following Arsenal and Manchester City’s loss to Newcastle United and Bournemouth respectively.

Van Dijk refused to get too excited with the turn of events.

He said via Mirror, “It’s too early to even make it important. We want to be on top of the league but we want to be there after the last match in May.

“The results have been good so far this season but there is a long way to go.”
