Manchester United players are asking for Ruud van Nistelrooy to remain at the club when Ruben Amorim takes charge.
They want the former striker to be their “connector” in the dressing room.
According to Sky Sports, the players appreciate the way the 48-year-old has communicated with them.
Most members of the squad want Nistelrooy to be retained in some capacity after his period as interim manager ends.
No concrete decisions have been made over Amorim’s backroom team yet, but the Sporting Lisbon head coach wants to bring in five of his coaching crew.
This includes his long-time assistants Carlos Fernandes and Adelio Candido, as well as the experienced Emanuel Ferro who operates in that role.
