Former Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has advised veteran defender Thiago Silva to leave the club at the end of the season.
Despite Silva having another solid campaign for Chelsea, missing only a few games due to injury, Leboeuf feels the young central defenders in the squad should be given more opportunities to prove themselves.
Silva is well-liked by fans for his leadership and experience, Leboeuf insists that the time has come for him to leave and give way to the new generation.
“Thiago Silva has been a fantastic player for Chelsea and I don’t want to deny that, but there is a time for everything to come to an end,” Leboeuf told BetVictor.
“It is time for him to leave and time for us all to say thank you to him.
“The young defenders at the club have proven that they are ready to play and I am not even sure they would have been better off with him in the team against Liverpool.
“I had my time, Marcel Desailly had his time and so did John Terry, there is an end for everyone.”
