Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has slammed Nicolas Jackson’s performance against Manchester City.
Jackson failed to find the back of the net, as Enzo Maresca’s era began with a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic scored for the Premier League champions in either half.
Chelsea were unable to convert any of their chances, with Jackson proving especially frustrating with his costly misses.
The Senegal striker was taken off in the 67th minute and replaced by 18-year-old Marc Guiu.
Working as an analyst for beIN Sports, Mikel Obi said: “You need to have a striker who knows how to hit a ball in the back of the net and that’s what we don’t have.
“I know I talk so much about him and sometimes I sound like I disrespect him, but I don’t disrespect him.”
