EPL: It’s frustrating – Alan Shearer reveals Chelsea told 29-year-old star to find new club

Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer, has claimed that Chelsea have already told 29-year-old forward Raheem Sterling to find a new club.

Shearer revealed this after the England international was left out of Chelsea’s Premier League 2-0 defeat against Manchester City.

Eyebrows were raised when Sterling was not included in the matchday squad against Man City on Sunday.

Sterling’s representatives released a statement after the match, expressing their surprise at his omission, adding that they would seek clarity over the situation.

However, speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said Enzo Maresca’s side have already told Sterling last Friday to find a new club, insisting it’s frustrating.

“I am told that he’s trained all pre-season and was told on Friday that he’s probably best off looking elsewhere for a club because they have brought other people in in that position,” Shearer said.

“As hard as that is and it will be for him because as far as I can remember he has not been unprofessional at all at Chelsea.

“To have been told that on Friday, that would be pretty frustrating. Mark my words, this is not going to be the first case of player unrest at Chelsea.

“Enzo Maresca is going to have to deal with problems like this all season.”
