Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has named Harvey Elliot and Dominik Szoboszlai as two players to replace Mohamed Salah when he departs for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this month.
Salah was in superb form for Liverpool against Newcastle United on Monday night, scoring two goals for the host.
The Egyptian international also provided an assist as the Reds got the win that sent them three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
The match against Newcastle was Salah’s last game for Liverpool before linking up with the Egypt squad.
Salah could miss up to eight games for Liverpool should Egypt reach the final of AFCON in Ivory Coast, leaving manager Jurgen Klopp with a major dilemma in attack.
However, Carragher has tipped both Elliot and Szoboszlai to temporarily replace Salah in his position as he departs for AFCON.
“It will be very interesting to see who he puts in that position,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“A lot of Liverpool’s attackers are right footed. They look okay on the left, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo can all do that but no one looks like they have the right balance to go on the right.
“A couple of options could be Harvey Elliot. I think he is more of a midfield player, he lacks pace to play in the front three but he could do it.
“But also Szoboszlai. Liverpool have got a lot of midfield options now with Alexis Mac Allister back, Szoboszlai has played in that position for his former club.
“But you can’t replace his [Salah’s] goals, that will be very difficult.”
