EPL: It would be madness for Chelsea to sack Pochettino – Gary Neville

Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, has said it would be “madness” for Chelsea to fire Mauricio Pochettino as their head coach.

Neville was speaking on Sky Sports, after the Blues defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Premier League on Thursday night.

The result took Pochettino’s men up to eighth place with four matches left.

Despite having an indifferent campaign, Chelsea could end up qualifying for a European competition next season.

Neville said: “There was talk of Pochettino being under pressure a month or so ago.

“But I think it would be madness to change the coach whose quality of work with these types of players is renowned.

“Making sure you have stability through another transfer window seems more critical than the idea someone else would come in and do a better job.

“Pochettino has had some up and down moments this season. But this is a good one.”
