Kobbie Mainoo, Manchester United’s young midfield star, missed their recent first-team training due to illness but could still feature in Saturday’s clash with Brentford, according to manager Erik ten Hag.
Mainoo has become one of United’s standout performers this season, despite the club’s overall struggles.
He recently made his senior international debut and won Man of the Match in a draw against Belgium.
While Mainoo sat out training on Thursday, he attended Friday’s session and could still play in what is a crucial match for United.
Ten Hag has spoken to the youngster about staying grounded amid his success, with hopes he can continue his impressive season.
“So far he’s handled the situation very well. If he gets carried away, of course, me as a manager and we as coaches, we will intervene,” Ten Hag told reporters at his pre-match interview ahead of the Brentford clash on Saturday night.
