Former Chelsea playmaker Joe Cole has ranked Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Premier League legends like Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard.
De Bruyne scored twice and provided an assist for Erling Haaland, as City won 4-2 away to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
“I think he sits above everyone. I really do. And I include Frank, and Scholesy and Stevie and everyone,” Cole said on TNT Sports.
“I think he’s moving up and they are great players of their time and it’s always difficult to compare eras because the game, the rules, change; the pitch has changed, the ball has changed, the training methods, everything changes, but he’s certainly the best of this era and he’s just outstanding.”
De Bruyne’s second goal against Palace was his 100th for the Etihad club.
During his time with City, the Belgian has won five league titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, and five League Cups.
