Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has admitted that Ben Chilwell was “ready to leave” the Premier League club this summer.
Maresca banished Chilwell from first-team training in a bid to force his departure.
But the England defender failed to agree a move away and has been reintegrated into the squad.
“Ben Chilwell is one of the guys who was ready to leave, but he’s here and he’s training with us,” Maresca confirmed.
“He’s training well. He’s our player.
“Game after game we are going to consider in case we are going to use him.”
Chilwell is unlikely to be part of the Chelsea squad for the trip to West Ham in Saturday’s early kick-off.
