EPL: He was doing too much – Jim Ratcliffe on Ten Hag’s failure

New Manchester United minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has said that manager Erik ten Hag was actually doing too much last season.

He said the Dutchman struggled at the club last season, as the Premier League giants finished eighth position in the league.

Ten Hag finished third in his first season in debut season at Old Trafford, won the EFL Cup and played the FA Cup.

The Red Devils would have finished outside the European places but managed to beat Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final which gave them a place in UEFA Europa League.

The FA Cup win over Manchester City kept Ten Hag at the Old Trafford helm after the hierarchy was widely reported to be scouting for replacements.

He told The Times, “Erik is a good guy and has been doing his best but doing too much.

“He was trying to sort out the squad and fix leaks in the roof at the same time.”
