EPL: He has gone backwards – Dietmar Hamann doubts Arsenal star ever will improve

Former Liverpool player, Dietmar Hamann, has claimed that Arsenal star Raheem Sterling has ‘gone backwards’ in recent years.

Hamann doubts the England attacker will improve again as he is currently 29 years old.

Sterling completed a shock loan move to Arsenal from Chelsea on transfer deadline day in the summer.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City star was being frozen out by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

He is yet to hit top level at the Gunners under manager Mikel Arteta.

“I hope we see the Raheem Sterling we saw at Liverpool and Manchester City, but I don’t think we will see him reach those levels at Arsenal,” Hamann told Flashscore.

“He is 29 years old now, he’s losing his pace and tenacity.
