Former Liverpool striker, Michael Owen has criticized Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey for the goal Fulham conceded against Brentford in the Premier League on Monday.
Bassey committed a costly error during the encounter that led to the goal scored by Brentford’s Vitaly Janelt at Craven Cottage.
His teammate, Harry Wilson then rescued Fulham from defeat as he scored a late brace to give the hosts a 2-1 victory.
Speaking to the Premier League Productions programme on Monday night, Owen said:
“Nobody was closing him [Vitaly Janelt] down, and of course as I said Bassey probably made the poor touch to start with to give the ball away.
“He found that little bit of space and some managers like encouraging their team to strike the ball from outside the box.”
