Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has been left shocked by Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s nickname.
Maresca has been labelled a “diet Pep” by some sections of fans and the media.
Guardiola was asked about the nickname, as the two clubs prepare to go head to head in a pre-season friendly.
Chelsea and City will also play each other in the first game of their respective Premier League campaigns.
Per Hayters, Guardiola was asked about Maresca’s nickname and replied: “Diet?!”
City’s press officer explained: “Like you, but not quite you.”
Guardiola laughed and replied: “It’s for the hair… it’s for the beard.”
Guardiola and Maresca have worked together at City for one full season.
