EPL: Gallas agrees with Mourinho over Arsenal’s title chances

Former France defender William Gallas has agreed with ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho that Arsenal do not have the squad depth to win the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners led the way for 248 days last campaign but collapsed in the final weeks, allowing Manchester City to win it for a third successive year.

Arsenal have yet to win the domestic crown since 2003–04.

Mikel Arteta’s men will be at the top of the table at Christmas for the second year running if they beat Liverpool at the weekend.

However, Gallas is still not convinced his former club will go all the way.

Speaking to Lord Ping, he said: “As I said before, it will be difficult for Arsenal to win the Premier League. They have improved from last season for sure. It will be a nice story if they win as the last time was 20 years ago so it will be a great story.

“I think it will be difficult; even if Man City don’t look good at the moment, they drew against Palace at home. Liverpool drew and Aston Villa are one behind, but I think they will drop off as they don’t have the squad to fight until May.”
