EPL: Do I need to be more involved? – Haaland questions Guardiola after Chelsea win

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has questioned manager Pep Guardiola on whether he needs to be more involved in the team’s play after scoring in a 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Haaland is up and running for this Premier League season after opening the scoring at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Despite his stunning goalscoring record at the Etihad, the Norwegian has often been criticised for a lack of touches or involvement in games.

There is particularly the 4-0 win over Bournemouth last season when he managed just eight touches.

Haaland produced 17 against Chelsea and said afterwards that his manager wants to see him more involved in games.

He told Sky Sports: “The best players are the best on the easiest things. Touching it with your right and passing with your left. That’s the important thing. Pep says this to me all the time.

“I want to get more involved, that’s what Pep wants. But in games like this, do I need to be that more involved? That’s the million-dollar question. I want to get more assists and become a better player.”
