Nottingham Forest Manager, Nuno Espirito Santo admitted Taiwo Awoniyi is yet to attain full fitness despite his impressive scoring form.
Awoniyi returned to action for Forest in January after spending around three months on the sidelines due to a groin injury.
The Nigeria international scored the opening goal in Forest’s 2-0 home win against West Ham United at the City Ground on Saturday.
It was the forward’s second goal since his return from injury.
Santo hinted that it is important to manage the 26-year-old’s fitness in the remainder of the campaign.
“Strikers are about scoring but for us, it’s more than that. They have to work, they have to read the game and when the moment comes put it inside the net. We know he’s struggling in terms of fitness, it’s up to us to manage him,” Santo told BBC Sport.
Awoniyi has scored six goals in 14 league appearances for the Tricky Trees this season.
