England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Declan Rice will captain the team for Tuesday’s international friendly against Belgium.
Rice played all 90 minutes as the Three Lions lost 1-0 to Brazil on Saturday.
The Arsenal midfielder will now lead the team out when they take on the Red Devils at Wembley.
The 25-year-old, who has become a key figure since making his debut in 2019, will also be winning his 50th cap for his country.
“It is a pinch-me moment, it will be an honour. I was absolutely lost for words when he [Gareth Southgate] said to me I was going to be captain,” he told the media.
He takes the captain’s armband, with Harry Kane and Kyle Walker out injured.
