Former England international Gary Lineker has identified two players who richly deserved to be called-up to The Three Lions squad for the first time.
On Thursday, England manager Gareth Southgate named his 25-man squad for the upcoming March international break.
Notably, there are also three uncapped players: Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon – the latter two being called-up for their country for the very first time.
The duo’s selection has been very well received given their exceptional form for Everton and Newcastle this season.
However, in a tweet via his X account, Lineker said both Brainthwaite and Gordon richly deserved the the called-up.
He tweeted, “Richly deserved.”
Meanwhile, it was Southgate’s last squad before he names his side for Euro 2024 in Germany.
Southgate’s side will face Belgium and Brazil in friendlies later this month.
