EndBadGovernance: Court reduces protesters’ bail from N10m to N5m

A Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja has granted a bail variation to five #EndBadGovernance protesters.

DAILY POST recalls that the court had earlier slammed N10M bail each on the ten members of the #endbadgovernance# protesters who were charged with attempt to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, Justice Emeka Nwite in his ruling, on Monday, reduced the amount from N10 million to N5 million each after the protesters were unable to meet their bail condition.

Counsel to the first, second and fourth defendants told the court that some of the protesters were unable to secure sureties with landed property in Abuja.

The protesters further applied for a bail variation from the court, to which the judge reduced their condition to N5 million each.

He added that the sureties specifically, must be a father or mother, or another blood relative residing within the jurisdiction if neither parent is available.

The protesters are facing six counts, including treason, conspiracy to commit a felony, inciting mutiny, and attempting to cause havoc in Nigeria.
