End wanton killings in Nigeria – Don urges religious, political leaders

A senior lecturer at the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Prof. Paul Kolade Tubi, has called on Nigeria’s political and religious leaders to unite and end the wanton killings of Nigerians.

The university don was a guest speaker at the 5th Leader Olumba Olumba Obu annual public lecture held in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, with the theme: “The Impact of God’s Manifestation on human civilization”, where he asserted that God is present and people should refrain from violent and embrace peace, love and unity.

He said if Nigerian leaders do not do something urgently to avert the increasing killing of their nationals in hundreds, the country will be doomed.

He traced the wanton killings to religious intolerance, saying it is a major problem facing the country today.

According to him, the most violent people are the religious people who maim, rape and slaughter fellow human beings in the name of God.

“Nigeria is presently confronted with religious intolerance. It is a major problem leading to killings. The amount of killings and mayhem unleashed is horrible.

“Nigeria’s religious and political leaders should ensure an end to religious crises, or else the country is doomed.

“I came to Calabar to assert that God is manifest and that it is our tasks to show that He is present and watching by doing good, living peaceably and forgiving one another.”

Tubi described Leader Olumba Olumba Obu as a divine being and an embodiment of peace who urges all to imbibe righteous living by aiming for peace and forgiveness at all times.
