The Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA), has ended its End of Year General Assembly in Uyo.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chancellor of COOPA, Mr. Utitofon Morgan, emphasized the substantial progress the group has made since he assumed office in October 2023, acknowledging members’ dedication to enhancing their online presence and impact in the state.
Morgan underscored COOPA’s accomplishments within the past 14 months, including hosting capacity training for members, enhanced partnership with the state government, private and corporate organizations, as well as improved welfare for members.
The Conference also discussed various upcoming events in 2025, including the 10th anniversary of COOPA.
Consequently, a Central Planning Committee chaired by Mr. Darlington Udobong of the Ibom Telegraph was constituted to plan the ceremony.
In their separate remarks, online publishers were resolved to work together with professionalism to establish a strong foundation for online journalism practice in Akwa Ibom State.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on New/Digital Media, Mr. Kufre Ekpoh, who was a Special Guest at the meeting, encouraged online publishers to persist in their development efforts.
Ekpoh who appreciated COOPA’s support for Governor Umo Eno, assured of his support in providing training for COOPA members to enhance their skills for reporting in the digital space.
Immediate past Chancellor of COOPA and Publisher of TheMail Newspaper, Mr. Ifreke Nseowo, Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Mr. Samuel Ayara, were part of the meeting.
