The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly breaking into private premises and stealing of motorcycles in the state capital.
In a statement released in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu said the suspects were arrested by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad based on credible intelligence.
The statement reads: “On 19/05/2024, the Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad(AKS), based on a credible tip-off, arrested one Babale Timothy at Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti while trying to sell a Bajaj motorcycle he stole from where parked alongside other members of his gang who are currently at large.
“The suspect, during interrogation, confessed to the commission of the crime and stated that he is a member of a syndicate that specializes in stealing of motorcycles around Ado-Ekiti.
“He further revealed that he is an ex-convict who have previously been arrested and prosecuted for similar offence.
“Similarly, the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) arrested one Sanmi Ajayi for breaking into the premises and houses of three different persons around Irewolede Estate, Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti and carting away items worth millions of naira.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and items such as Playstation 5 Console, Laptop, Extension Box, PS-5 Controller and Disc, Oraimo Clipper, Phone Charger, JBL BoomBox 2 and raw food items were recovered from him.
“Effort is underway to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and recover other stolen items.”
