Edo : Police nab two for alleged theft of electricity transformers, cable wires

The Edo State Police Command has arrested one KC Okojie Prince, 50, for alleged theft of two electricity transformers and two drums of 2.5 flex cable wires.

DAILY POST reports that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, disclosed this while parading the suspects and five others for various crimes at the Police headquarters on Friday in Benin City.

Edwin-Iwo, also disclosed that one Aruka Uche, 40, who allegedly received the stolen items from the suspects was arrested.

He listed the stolen items as one 300kva transformer, one 100kva transformer and two drums of 2.5mm flex cable wire.

The commissioner said the suspect committed the offence at No. 8, Idugboe Estate, off Sapele Road, Benin-City on August 11, 2024.

He added that an accomplice simply identified as Ojo is currently at large.

He said the suspects “deceitfully gain entrance to No. 8 Idugboe Estate, off Sapele road, Benin-city and made away with the electrical equipment.”

Edwin-Iwo, said the diligent investigation by operatives of X-Squad Benin-City, led to the arrest of the culprit, KC Okojie Prince, who confessed to have committed the crime with Ojo (surname unknown).

He said, the suspect further led operatives to the receiver of the stolen items, Aruka Uche, 40, and all the equipment were recovered at No. 5 Eben Street, off Akpakpava, Benin City.
